Future Cities Catapult

Jarmo Eskelinen is the Chief Innovation and Technology Officer of the UK’s Future Cities Catapult. The Catapult brings together businesses, universities and city leaders so that they can work with each other to solve the problems that cities face.

Jarmo was the CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki, the innovation lab of the City of Helsinki, Finland, from 2006 to 2016. Prior to that, he’s been the executive director of the Media Centre Lume of the Aalto University and program director of the Helsinki 2000 European Capital of Culture. Jarmo was also an entrepreneur in a successful concert promotion company in the 1990s. Originally trained as an architect, he is an expert in smart cities.
Jarmo is a council member and former president of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), a vice-chair of the international Open & Agile Smart Cities network, and regularly advises the European Commission.
